Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

The CPR course is delivered as a Refresher or a full CPR course.  Please read this document to see which course is suitable.

Fees:

90% refund if cancelled more than 15 days prior to booked date
50% refund if cancelled 14 -3 days prior to booked date
No refund if cancelled 3-0 days prior to booked date

Course Duration:
CPR Refresher Course:  4 hours in class
CPR Course: 1 hour online pre-reading and assessment with 4 hours in class

Assessment:
Written assessments and practical scenario-based assessments

Mode of Delivery:
Refresher Course:  Face-to-face
CPR Course:  Online pre-reading and assessment coupled with face-to-face 

Certificate Currency:
12 months from successful course completion (ARC annual renewal recommendation)

Entry Requirements:
Not specified by the Training Package, however, Learners attending the course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin place on the floor to meet performance criteria assessment.

For Students who complete the CPR course, access to a laptop/computer and internet access is required.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

The First aid course is delivered as a Refresher or a full First Aid course.  Please read this document to see which course is suitable.

Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing.

This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

The information presented in this course conforms to the requirements outlined in the relevant standards:

AS/NZS 4308:2008 Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs of abuse in urine

AS 4760-2006 Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs of abuse in oral fluid

AS 3547-1997 Breath alcohol testing devices for personal use
